Today was the last RDC tutoring session and rather than a lesson, we had a celebration. Upon first arriving, tutoring helped to set up decorations and organize food. There was much time for small talk and I had the opportunity to meet other students whom I hadn't the chance to work with as much. Later in the night, we participated in a jeopardy game. Students (and tutors) seemed very engaged in this as different categories included both English and East Lansing, but also various countries from which many students were from. I did notice that students seemed to group with those from their own countries during this game and although the teacher gently suggested mixing teams up, she didn't follow through with that. Most seemed to be very engaged and those who felt shy to speak out, I saw whispering to their teammates about possible answers. I felt that this end of the semester celebration was a great way to wrap up the tutoring and say goodbye, as well as give an opportunity for students to bring in dishes of their own and share their culture.
